Markus Lehmann-Horn
german composer and musician


Markus Lehmann-Horn works in very different genres, crossing the borders between the classical-contemporary and electronic music world.
Before studying composition, he worked as a studio guitarist and played the guitar in various formations and bands.

The holistic creation of music and sound is an important focus of his work, starting with the individual note on the sheet of music through to the technical-sound design of the composition.
Markus Lehmann-Horn has worked with many well-known ensembles and soloists.
In addition to symphonic works, his oeuvre also includes a full-length opera, instrumental concerts, various works with a wide variety of instrumentations, as well as over 50 film music compositions for national and international film productions.
He has received multiple nominations and awards for his work and has been a member of the German Film Academy since 2015.
He won the Hindemith Prize in 2011 and he received a scholarship from the Free State of Bavaria at the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris in 2015. Since 2017 he has been the artistic director of the Munich aDevantgarde festival for contemporary music.
Markus Lehmann-Horn lives with his family in Starnberg near Munich. There he runs the recording studio “KlangKastell GmbH” together with his wife, the soprano singer Sibylla Duffe.
